WWDC brings Mac Pro

To the surprise of probably nobody the WWDC keynote revealed some new gear:

  • Mac Pro, using the Xeon "woodcrest" processors. Surprise surprise. One base config though... but all dual processor, dual core. Nice.
  • Xserve, same. (The Xserve now has graphics again, backed not by the GMA950 but an ATI chip. Interesting. Not least of all because of the "anti ATI" type things I've heard people claim of late)
  • Cinema Displays not really new, but reasonable price drops across the board. (The 30" is down from USD$2500 to USD$1999. Still more cash than I have on hand, but still.)
  • Leopard 10 features previewed, with the rest being "top secret" because they didn't want the photocopiers "starting too soon". Interestingly while people have picked on Mail for being "stationary, notes and todos", I think the latter two are most interesting (not least of all the addition of a ToDo API... here's hoping it'll sync using sync services.)
  • Leopard Server, big new things involve wikis and a [iCal Server]. Interestingly iCal Server is being released as open source as Darwin Calendar Server, and seems to be written entirely in python.

More as I read it :)
