I'm kind of tired of working out the number of days I've been here. Suffice to say it's been more than two months. Wowzer. You'd think I'd have done it all by now, nothing left to see and all that jazz!
Since my last touching of base I've been to the Capilano Suspension Bridge (photos), which while expensive was rather fun (and rather made me want a front path that went through tree tops). The weather has also been absolutely marvellous for the most part. This has lead to the inevitable thinking "do I want to stay here forever?" questions. I'm thinking I really need to give it a few more months.
Last weekend was Canada Day, so I hit up the celebrations down town and took photos (me? photograph people? never!). That was pretty much all I did (oh, and I bought a TV), but it did mean I got a 3 day weekend. Personally by the end of the 4 day week I've forgotten that it's a short week, so as always it was a nice bonus to discover it's already the weekend. Which it is! Hoorah.
In terms of techy things I'm doing I started setting up an Asterisk box earlier this week. The SIP phones (Linksys single line type devices, they're cheap but nice and solid feeling) and FXO card arrived today, so I set about getting two phones up and running before realising it was 7pm (rather later than I'd realised). The remaining extensions will be pretty much straight copy and pasting for the sip config, configuring the phones, then setting up the extensions and voicemail.
Of course the Asterisk box meant another Debain installation added to the world, which can only be a good thing, right? The (everything except the server) came from the awesome people at netVoice who are physically located in Vancouver, and have things in stock! They know what they're talking about too which is great to have when ordering such gear.
