Weblog Usability

Weblog Usability: The Top Ten Design Mistakes: how many can you violate today?

My take is:

  • I have a bio (+), in fact I have a site dedicated to it: introducing Patrick
  • No photo on the bio (-), but there are photos of me elsewhere
  • Sometimes my titles are descriptive (+), but sometimes it's fun to be random.
  • My links usually tell you where they go (+), especially doubleshot ones.
  • Classic hits are buried (-), is there really anything good here?
  • Calendar is not the only navigation (+), I have categories too. When I remember to use them.
  • I publish when I want (-), once or twice a month usually, plus links to other things of interest.
  • I talk about whatever I want (-), good gracious it's a blog! It's my blog! I can talk about things if I want to.
  • Forgetting about my future boss (-): if you are one, you shouldn't be judging my potential as your employee based on this, it's crazy. I could be writing this especially for you. I'm not censoring myself for that.
  • I own my domain names (+).

5 +'s, not too bad. But then, I'd have to care...
