Earlier this week, with little fanfare, and no new post to bring it to anybody's attention, I launched a new design for soapbox.co.nz, Soapbox v3.0. A change in the way the page is laid out, making the flickr images a little more subdued, and using a couple of layered with transparency fills that ended up looking kind of smoky. The photo behind the page is looking out over Titahi Bay, on a cloudy Sunday afternoon.
Tested in Safari, Firefox, and IE as fully working. The flickr photos lack transparency in the Konqueror included with Ubuntu 5.04, but other than that it works fine.
New in this release, other than the looks? Not a lot I'm afraid. The colophon now shares the same look as the rest of soapbox.co.nz. At some stage I'll work on the movies section to bring it into line as well. Maybe sometime this weekend.
I've only gone through about 5 designs this year, and I'm still not quite happy, expect v3.1 to come along sooner rather than later with some bug fixes or subtle colour changes. I'll keep you posted.
