Political, almost

Your opinion of Tangi Leave - Take this quiz, then read this entry.

As it happens the bill makes no mention of 'tangi' leave, nor does it provide any special rights to Maori, or bestow any special obligations on employers of Maori staff.

It does state that additional leave (around 1 day, iirc) should be given - at the employers discretion, not a must - to any staff member, where there is significant obligation.

Of course I should add, Brash suggesting he would employ the non Maori staff member over the Maori of identical qualifications would be discrimination, along the lines of employing a male staff member over a woman, on the basis that the potential exists for pregnancy leave. But then Brash probably doesn't care about that, and once he has finished with Race, will he next target women? The elderly? The disabled?
