In a nutshell

NZwired is looking like it could actually produce something of interest, which is good. If you are in NZ, think you might in any way be interested in joining this - perhaps even as a bridge (ethernet to wireless, wireless to wireless, or even ethernet to ethernet), you should pop by the website, put your name in, and join the mailing list.

I also discovered that if I can be home by 2225, I can leave by 2228, and then get to work by 2300. Just. This is not a feat I wish to repeat, well, ever. Thankfully I don't work Wednesdays usually.

I'm thinking I should use some of my course related costs to pick up a couple of machines from ex-MCS stock. I could do with some experimentation boxen, esp. to do some learning with IPv6. There is a plan.

That is all for now. It is sleep time.

AM You really think NZ Wired will get anywhere? I was discussing it with some friends and we had severe doubts.

Think how much time and money Telstra/Saturn and Citylink have put into cabling - and how far they've got. Not inspiring.

I suspect it makes about as much sense as trying to put in a second plumbing system for the supply of water.
